remington model 1858
remington model 1858
I have a remington model 1858 conversion revolver. It has RRR1 in two places on the gun. Is possibly the first ryder conversion?

You will have to send pictures for me to be of any help to you. Also include any numbers (serial and conversion) and inspection letters. The serial and conversion numbers can be found under the barrel and on the left frame under the grip. Does the revolver have a cartridge ejector on the right side of the barrel?

Yes it has an ejector rod and loading cut out. The serial # is 101960. It has what I think is a conversion # under the grip by the serial # the # is a distinct #1. No markings on the cylinder. Has a faint military cartouche on the grip. Can't get my camera to download any pics though.

Is there a conversion number on the bottom of the barrel either in front of the latch post or behind it? If so what is the number? Do you know if the revolver has been converted to rim fire or center fire?

There isn'y any number by the latch post. There is a #1 or an I in front of cylinder on left side an a upside down W or an M on the right side. It is centerfire either 44 or 45 cal. If you want you can e-mail me at bruno2@collinscom.net. Or call Dave at 307-686-7519.
