742 Trigger Group fit 760
I recently picked up a 760 BDL that is in really good shape in my opinion. However there is quite a bit of bluing missing on the trigger guard, but the rest of the bluing is quite good. I would like to replace the trigger guard plate or the trigger group assembly with an original to make it look better. I have not been able to locate a 760 trigger guard or trigger group that is in better shape than what I have. I did find several 742 trigger groups and trigger guards that are in good shape but wasn't sure if the trigger group would fit, or if I could have the working parts of my 760 trigger put into a 742 trigger guard plate. I talked with a local gun smith about this, and he told me he thought they would, but he wasn't totally sure, so I called Remington and they were not sure either. They told me they did not have the data on these guns anymore because of the age. Does anyone know if the 742 trigger guard or trigger group will fit the 760 Thanks

Looking at Remington part numbers for both trigger assemblies and parts, it appears there are only a very few interchangeable parts. The "trigger plate"(no parts installed) and "trigger assembly"(parts in place) are different part numbers for each rifle. I'm doubting one is to work in the other!

Thanks for the info. That was what I was looking for. I didn't even think to look for part numbers since they are older parts.600RemGuy wrote:Looking at Remington part numbers for both trigger assemblies and parts, it appears there are only a very few interchangeable parts.
