I have an octagon barrel roll back that resemblesa modle 4 but has inscribed,
"E. Remington & Sons" Does not this inscription convey that the rifle was made before 1886
There is also a number below the triger gaurd (toward the stock):

Also stated on the gun is Ilion N.Y. which is obviously the manufacture location (based on basic company history).
It has a brass seal on the outside (right side) of the stock, maybe an inche in diameter.
I am thinking a sporter, but I need more details on what era and make this could be.
