Re: Model 12-A SN Question
Late 1919 - December would be a very reasonable guess (pre-code started in 1921)

Re: Model 12-A SN Question
You should consider John and Roy's book, that's 1920.

Yesterday was my birthday..I feel bad enough about it, but 1920????
Thanks for the comments on the book. Yes, the standard editions are sold out, but some dealers have a few left. I do have about 80 of the DeLuxe left.

Re: Model 12-A SN Question
.
From what I see, it looks like a model 121 and not a model 12.......which would put it in or after 1936.
Doesn't look like "factory" engraving, so it's definitely not an "F" grade. Looks like a standard grade gun that an owner had somebody do some engraving to. And whoever did it didn't do a very good job from what what I see in the pictures.
The factory wouldn't have drilled the holes, either.
Values aren't given on the forum and this one may be somewhat less than a standard gun in decent original condition.

In my opinion.......Nedroe wrote:HI, everyone. A friend of mine has a Model 12F. It has a gold FOX on the right side, a RABBIT on the left. The serial number is 138192. Here are some pics. I'm thinkin' around 1912. John, would you be so kind as to confirm that. Are the tapped holes for a scope mount factory? Anyone have an idea as to a ballpark value for it?
Thanks, Ned

Re: Model 12-A SN Question
Yes, it does appear to be a M/121. I seldom make a call from a photo, but.... That is not Rem factory engraving. There is no doubt!
The extra holes are not factory.
The engraving does not match any factory patterns.
Rem would never allow a high grade rifle go out with "A" grade wood.

Re: Model 12-A SN Question
The serial would make it 1938 so it certainly should have the code on the barrel.
I have a 121-F laying around here I'm pretty sure I have a picture I can post as an example.
