Was having a typical talk with hunting type guys. "Best gun" question came up. I never put it to thought much, but I can say every successful deer & elk hunt I ever had was with a 721 or 725 in 270 or 3006. I have carried afield Model 70s (pre 64 of course) many times as well. But never got game with any other than the Remingtons. Also primary varmint gun was 722 222.
Ah. The good old days.

My varmint rifle is also a 722 .222. I bought a bunch of older Herters (by Norma) and
Centennial ammo that I haven't been able to shoot up yet, but mid-May isn't that far off. I have a 721 300 H&H that I would like to take on an elk hunt. My other Rem "shooters" are 720s in .257, .270 & 30-06, all with factory peeps. The 720 MI STATE POLICE SNIPER RIFLE has the original K-4 scope with a post. It's not the clearest scope. My groups so far have been about 2 1/2" @ 100 yards.
