What steel on late Rolling Block No. 2

Remington made Rolling Block No. 2's from the 1880's till somewhere around 1910 or 1913. My question is did Remington use so called " smokeless steel" on its' No. 2'safter 1896 until production ceased or did they continue to use soft steel/steel for BP?
