Model 11 20ga w broken operating handle?

Post by wannagohunting »

I am considering buying a Model 11 20ga from a seller.
Model 11 is Browning Type not the 11-48 type.
He states it works fine but presently has a broken operating handle.
He is asking $200.00. Would the broken handle be a result of another problem needing fixed or should I
buy it and chance that with a new handle the gun will be back in order?
Will a 12ga handle work in a 20ga model 11?
Thank you,
Dale

Remington Arms Co., Inc. built their Model 11/The Sportsman on gauge specific frames. I have no idea if a Part #64 Operating Slide is gauge specific or not, but I suspect it is. I just looked on Numrich Gun Parts web site, and on their part diagram it is Part #41, and for 16- and 20-gauge the price is $48.70 and listed as sold out. I'd say $200 is awefully high for a Model 11 with a broken, likely very hard to find, and expensive part. There are lots of Model 11s out there, so unless there is something very special about this one, I'd keep looking.
