Mod. 1889 sideplate removal

Hi, I've just purchased a grade 1 mod. 1889 hammer double, and would like to remove the sideplates to clean and oil the action. This gun looks a bit different from my other doubles, and I'd like to learn of any "kinks" involved in the yakedown particular to this model The only sideplate screw is behind the left hammer. Is the front edge of the sideplate recessed under the frame as in most? Any of the pins need to be removed? Or can I just wiggle the sideplates off by the hammers after removing the screw. Thanks,

You are correct in your removal proceedure. Remove the screw , wiggle the lock out and you will find it undecut at the front. Jay Huber RSA
