Greetings gents:
I'm a new guy here, and thanks for having me!
After searching all available resources without success, I respectfully request your expertise for the following:
Was the 20 ga. Model 31 ever offered with a 25 or 26" bbl and FULL choke?
If so, was it standard or special order?
Would that be more...or less desireable to a collector?
Any input will be especially appreciated.
TIA

Re: Mod 31 20ga. bbl lengths vs. chokes
From the introduction of the Remington Model 31, they were catalogued as "standard" with a 30-inch barrel in 12-gauge and a 28-inch barrel in 16- or 20-gauge with the option of 26-, 28-, 30- or 32-inches and choice of cylinder, modified or full choke through at least 1934, and by 1936 you could also get Remington Special SKEET Boring. By 1938 the 32-inch barrels were gone for the 16- and 20-gauges and you could only get modified, improved cylinder or cylinder in 26- and 28-inch barrels, while you could get full choke in 26-, 28-, and 30-inch barrels.
So, the answer to your question is that a Model 31 20-gauge with a 26-inch full choke plain barrel was a catalogue offering from beginning to end, but after WW-II the only solid rib barrels offered in 20-gauge were 28-inch with either full or modified choke.
"Collector" desireable would be the 32-inch 16- or 20-gauges and any field gun with the Remington SKEET Boring. To me any smallbore Model 31 with more open boreing -- modified, improved cylinder or SKEET is very desireable.
