Newbie here- Model 1100 question
Re: Newbie here- Model 1100 question
Definitely pure old wives' tale. I have four 1100s made from 1963 to 1977, and they all wear RemChoke barrels most of the time. Remington has not changed the receiver except for numerous cosmetic exterior variations. And the 3" Magnum receiver is identical to the 2-3/4" one as well. They got it right the first time.
What could have happened... did.
Re: Newbie here- Model 1100 question
The differences between a Magnum and a 2-3/4" are the barrels - chamber sizes and one port vs. two - and the action sleeve. The ejection port is EXACTLY the same size, and I assure you my 3" gun ejects perfectly, as did my 2-3/4" gun with the 3" Steel Shot barrel and 3" loads.
You probably didn't pull the bolt back fast enough.

The "L" prefix indicates it was made between 1968 and 1974 and the "V" suffix indicates it's a 12 gauge.

There have been numerous posts with this information, but here's a link to a thread further down this page where I previously posted it.Loggerhead wrote:Thanks, Virginian! My 1100 (gift from Father-in-law) has receiver serial no. L1307--V. Where can I learn the approx. date of manufacture? Thanks.
