I'm new to the forum and have searched for an answer to my question, but have not found a definite answer yet. Any heip would be appreciated. I inherited my father's 16 ga. Model 11, serial # 1,517,XXX. The letters on the left side of the barrel are an "X" and either a "C" or "G". Looking at the DOM codes on the RSA site, the "X" would mean a December production month. However, the "C" could be either 1934 or 1956 and the "G" could be either 1938 or 1960. I remember hunting with my dad and this Model 11 before 1960, so that year would be out of the mix. Based on the serial number, can anyone pin down the year of manufacture?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

If you check this link to the Remington site and the very next thread below the one you started, you'll probably find some help to the information you seek. There are MANY, MANY threads with information regarding the Remington Model 11-style autoloaders here on the forum.......just take the time to look through them.

Thanks for the links. I have been to the Remington site and read a ton of threads on this sight, going back to 2009. I did discover a link to the Serial Numbers by date (factory record book) on the RSA Manufacture Dates site. Page 13 of that book indicates it may have been manufactured in September, 1937. That date doesn't seem to match the barrel markings, but maybe the barrel is not original to the gun. I know that my dad didn't put a "new" barrel on it, and I thought he had bought it new. Maybe I was mistaken in my asssumption that he bought it new.
Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Re: Model 11 16 GA DOM
Does the serial number on the barrel match the serial number on the receiver?
Re: Model 11 16 GA DOM
I don't remember seeing a serial number on the barrel, however I will check again tonight and post results.
Re: Model 11 16 GA DOM
Took me a while to find it, but yes, the serial number on the barrel matches the serial number on the receiver. If you can give me some help, I would appreciate it.Researcher wrote:Does the serial number on the barrel match the serial number on the receiver?

Bob,
Your gun was made in Sept. of 1936.
This information is available on this website under manufacturing dates and through the summary of the factory ledgers.
Good luck with your 16,
Will
