Ken!
I have a knack for sounding a bit sarcastic in some of my replies so please don't take it personal if I come off that way.
Yes, there are a few folks out there that use these type sights and have even supplied one to a chap through this forum (it was a vintage Marble that I stripped off a parts gun).
The "sight picture" when using this type sight is not the best and limits your elevation to two basic settings whereas the standard leaf sight on the M141 (701-1/2 Semi-Buckhorn) provides several elevation settings and is mated to work with the factory front sight. It is easy to use, provides a decent sight picture, and if you are going to use open sights it is your best bet so why mess with it.
That said, you still want to go ahead, flip sights are cheap, order your "best guess" from Midway and try it out and if it doesn't give you exactly what you need try another. Most people using these great old rifles use the original sight, the R14 Lyman Tang Sight (costly), or mount a receiver sight on the frame which too can be a bit costly but provides the greatest accuracy and ease of sight adjustment.
Good Luck!
