I have Remington catalogues from just about every year the Model 31 was offered, as well as a number of Model 31 brochures, and I don't see any type of wood offered but Walnut. That said, I don't see any wood but American Black Walnut or European Walnut offered on Ansley H. Fox shotguns in any of the A.H. Fox Gun Co. catalogues, but we have found in the A.H. Fox production cards a few guns made on special request with Maple stocks. Documation to prove a Maple stock is "original" on a Remington Model 31 is going to be just about impossible to come up with.
