Model 10A chamber length

Post by longarm »

Can a person tell by the serial number if a gun is chambered for 2 3/4" or 2 9/16"?

I have heard rumor that after a certain SN the following M10s manufactured were all 2 3/4". However 1) I don't know if that is a fact, and 2) the SN listed as a cut-off differs, depending on the source (I have read 'after 69xxx', and I have read 'after 89xxx').

What say you, oh Wise Ones of the Remington Society? 8)
Many thanks in advance.

All Remington Repeating Shotguns/Model of 1908/Model No. 10s were chambered for 2 3/4 inch shells. Remington never marketted a 12-, 16-, 20-, or 28-gauge pump or autoloader for shells shorter than 2 3/4 inch.
