Push the shell all the way into the magazine when you load it. If you have the problem continue to occur, Remington sells a kit with a slotted carrier and a relieved bolt carrier bottom to prevent it tying the gun up. I have seen this more than once, but in 47 years with about 14 870s and 1100/11-87s I have never done it, and I am not all that super coordinated.

Or, you can push out the pins and drop the trigger group, or what I have done when someone else does it is to use a pocketknife and push the shell back in the magazine.
