#1 highwall roller sporter in 25-10 Stevens rimfire

Post by moodyholler »

I picked up a #1 sporter in 25-10 Stevens rimfire, Serial number 10,xxx and 26" oct barrel, 1.062 across flats at the muzzle. Has worn a tang sight at one time and front sight has been replaced. I am wondering about ther scarceness of this caliber in #1's. My original intention was to rebarrel to a larger caliber and use it, but now I am hesitant and thinking I should find one more suitable. Any thoughts? Thanks, moodyholler @ cox.net ps pics to come

That is a scarce chambering for an original no 1. I would leave it alone and find something else for an action. Plenty of old military rifles around. Ed

Thanks Ed. I have had several military action s barreled up and they lack the feel of an original sporter. I guess I will sell this one and look for another. Thanks, moodyholler
