Remington Autoloader Shotgun Pre M11

Post by Tilt »

I picked up what I thought was a well used Model 11 the other day. I found out today that it pre dates the Model 11 designation. The serial number is 218xx. It has no finish left on the receiver and has a later 25" solid rib barrel. The barrel is stamped "Full" but it has a screw in choke. I assume the screw in chokes are not factory. The wood is not in great shape either. I know these don't have great collecter value, but I like the older guns. Would cleaning it up and re blueing it be frowned upon too bad? Could anybody give me a date of production? I haven't been able to find anything that goes back that far.
Thanks for any info.

In the condition you describe, the gun has no "collector" value, so whatever you do to keep a 104 year old shotgun doing what it was made to do can't be bad.
