rem 1187 20 ga stock

I bought a used 1187 20 ga sportsman and it is set up with a slug barrel, scope, I order a replacement barrel for field use, it works fine, but the problem I have is the stock has a rubber comb to give you better vision thru the scope, not sure if this came thru on sportsman model or it was added later, but makes looking down field barrel impossible, this is hard to explain , but never seen it on any remingtons. I would order a new stock, but it is almost impossible to find a replacement for a 20 ga. I havent called remington yet and really cannot tell how this rubber comb was installed, no screws.
