I have a Remington 700 chambered in 7mm Mag and can't date it.
When I google it everyone says to use this method: http://www.remingtonsociety.com/rsa/que ... arrelcodes
But, as you can see in the attached picture, it does not make sense for my gun. I also have a Remington 710 and it does not work for that gun either.
Maybe I'm just retarded.
As you can see from the picture the barrel says UZ61, and the serial number reads 6866008
Please help.
Please help date my Remington 700

Re: Please help date my Remington 700
.
It could be that it's actually "O Z", which would translate to July of 1975. Possibly the top of the O didn't get completely punched in, so it looks like a U.
The serial number is higher than some that I have from the early 70's and it doesn't have an "A" prefix which came along in the latter part of the 70's.
So, that's my guess.

Wulfman is right on. Serial number and incomplete stamping deciphers to that exact time period.

Thanks for the help. I called Remington, and it is a 1976 model. Your probably right that the U is actually and O.
