Yes. Does yours say GALLERY SPECIAL on the side of the reciever? Possibly rebarreled or 2 diffeeant guns put together. Post a picture.

Re: model 12 gallary special
I dont think thats true. Whats it chambered for? 22 short or is it 22 short, long, and long rifle? Or is it just 22 long rifle?
I called Remington. They say both barrels was available in 1909. It has gallery special on reciever. And 4 digit serial
That's interesting. Remington records show the Gallery Special was introduced in 1910, but I know that is not accurate since my serial #26 was a Gallery Special. Remington did make a few round barrel M/12s in 22 short only but did not stamp " Gallery Gun" on the receiver. At least that's what I have seen. Rem also made some 12-Cs in 22 short that were not stamped with the Gallery Special stamp. My bet is that you have two guns pieced together. Check the serial # on both halves...
where is serial on barrel? the barrel is stamped 22 short and 22 long
There is no serial # on the barrel. It is stamped on the bottom of the receiver and inside the receiver (the other half). You do not have a Gallery Special if it's stamped 22 short or long. You also do not have a M/12 barrel since they did not stamp them that way. From your description it sounds like someone found a way to install a Model 4 barrel on a M/12. Check the caliber again to see if it also is stamped Long Rifle. If it is, you have a later barrel since the early production rifles were stamped LR only (not short, Long, Long Rifle).
