Date code?

Hello,

I have a Remington model 700 25-06 which I believe to be made in 1977. I am confused by the date code listings. My rifle does not have two prefix letters to verify. It starts with A628. What would be the year of manufacture? Also could I get an estimated value? I would say the rifle is 90% or better.

Not the serial, did you click the barrel code location diagram?

Yes I did that is what started my confusion. I do not have two prefix letters just the letter A. Does this mean the letter A is the year? Again as listed on the barrel the serial is A628XXXX.

Well I found the three mark in question and apologize for my confusion. I think I may need an eye test. My rifle listed U C1 1 as the barrel markings on the left side.
