I have been researching for a while tonight on this gun.... I have been referred to the remington serial number helper page thing a million times. Problem is there is no LETTER on my serial number... here is the description
barrel says: The Remington Arms Union Metallic CTG. CO. Inc. Remington Ilion wks. Ilion N.Y. U.S.A Brownings Patents October 9, 1900 Dec 17, 1901, Sept. 30 1902, and june 18, 1903
Reciever says: Remington Trade Mark Model 11 286501
In addition, the anchor mark and R.E.P. are located on the barrel on the right side and on the left it says MOD. no serial numbers

The company name was Remington Arms - Union Metallic Cartridge Co. from 1911 to 1920. In 1920 the company name was changed to Remington Arms Co., Inc. According to the old factory ledger available on this web site, serial number 286501 would have been made in August 1924 --

Sounds like you may have an earlier barrel fitted to a 1924 receiver. The barrel serial number is often stamped on base of the ring which goes around the magazine tube. Requires taking the forearm and barrel off to see.
