Hi!
The original "hang tags" for these guns stated that you should use round nose bullets only. That being said (spiral tube not withstanding), spitzer style bullets will not feed well and are VERY prone to jamming. Using round nose bullets with the absolute proper OACL is critical for proper feed with these guns.
I do use "spitzers" for single loading/plinking with "squib" loads. A great way of using up the odds and ends on the reloading bench.
Best regards, hope this is helpful!

There are problems with pointed bullets and Mo 14s.
First, the point will wedge between the case head and the tube wall, jamming the shells in the tube. You probably wont be able to get more than a couple in the tube.
Second, overall length is limited and critical to proper operation. In order to stay within OAL limitations, you will have to push the bullet way down in the case neck. Long ogive 30 cal bullets have to be pushed in so far that the ogive is down in the neck. The 25 and 35 rems are more tolerant. The OAL limit also means that if you shoot a pointed bullet, it will have to make a big jump to the lands. Not good for accuracy. You can load long OAL shells single shot, but you will have to fire them to get them back out.
The twist and the throat are also set up for round nosed bullets. I gave up trying to find a pointed bullet that will shoot as well as a round nosed bullet.
Bottom line...the 14s shoot great with the round nosed bullets, not spitzers.
