Ive read 1963 was the last year for the 244
Wondering if remington made a 244 in a model 700?
thanks
244
Re: 244
Yes, they've made lots of them. If you count the 6MMRem anyway. If you are looking for a 700 with the slower twist barrel of the 244s, you might find a custom or older varmint rifle with it, but it'll likely be used or NOS.
AFAIK Rem got rid of the slower twist barrels when they changed the name of the round to 6mm.

Re: 244
Thanks Jamie
but Im courious about orginal 244 remingtons
wether or not there were any 244 made in Model 700
ive read reminton stopped making the 244 in 1963
and I know remington began making the model 700 in 1962
so it maybe possible some 244 model 700's were made in a model 700

Re: 244
No 700s were made with the 244 stamping as standard production. The 6mm was inttoduced in 62 so they all carried that stamping. It originally was going to be called 6mm rem mag, but they were afraid the word magnum would hurt sales. There are some 700s that do carry that stamping.
