Model 550-1P

Post by rsv1rem »

Hello, I am a long time fan of the Remington 550 series of .22 rifles. My first rifle was a model 550 given to me some 59 years ago, I still have it and have since added 14 more, the most recent a long sort after 550-1P. I was wondering how many on this forum are familar with the P model? Thanks - Bob

Model 550P

Bob:

The Model 550-P & 550-1P are not common, but there are a few around. The P stood for Remington's Point-crometer rear sight. The tough 550 to find is the very early one without a provision for a shell deflector.

Roy Marcot & I are nearly done with a book covering all Remington 22 rifles. The 550 is covered in some detail.

The BLUE BOOK OF GUN VALUES will show values by condition. Maybe a friend has a copy??? We don't usually attempt to give values here. Questions like... What condition is it in? Are all parts original? Does it function? These make a difference.
