Question about 1985 Remington 1100 SP Magnum 26"&30" Barrel
Question about 1985 Remington 1100 SP Magnum 26"&30" Barrel
I am looking for information about the 1985 Remington 1100 SP (Special Purpose) Magnum with 26" (Turkey Model) or 30" (Duck Model) Barrel. This Gun in this configuration was only made in limited quantities and only made for one year with a Fixed Full Choke. All sunsequent Model 1100 had Screw in Choke Tubes. All Internal parts where chrome plated. The Inside of the Barrel was also Chrome Plated to make this a very durable Shotgun that would stand up to the elements very well! The Barrel is also much thicker on this model than all subsequent Model 1100 Barrels. These Guns also came with a Camo Nylon Sling and Sling Swivels installed. Barrel and Stock were Bead Blasted to produce a Low Luster Matte Finish. Any help in finding more information on this Gun would be greatly appreciated. I would like to know quantities manufactured (I was told only one run of these guns was made in both configurations). I would really like to find one of the 26" Barreled Shotguns if anyone knows where one is at!

You listed about everything there is to know about them. My buddy still has the 26" version he bought from me when I was selling guns. I never much cared for it handling wise compared to other 1100s personally. I don't think he has used his in 15 years now.

Re: Question about 1985 Remington 1100 SP Magnum 26"&30" Barrel
Thanks Virginian! I was looking for more specifics on this year and model, such as: How many of each 26" and 30" were made for 1985? More details on origin of configuration? Why they only made it for one year?Virginian wrote:You listed about everything there is to know about them. My buddy still has the 26" version he bought from me when I was selling guns. Re: Question about 1985 Remington 1100 SP Magnum 26"&30" Barrel
They only made them that way for one year because the RemChoke arrived. And I doubt you will ever get a number for how many of each, or even in total, were made. If Remington announced there were only going to be 3000 of such and such model 1100s is the only ones there are any specific manufacturing numbers on.

Thanks for the information. Do you know if your Buddy wants to get rid of the 1100 that he has? Do you know if any Famous Turkey Hunters or Duck Hunters helped to develop these guns?Virginian wrote:They only made them that way for one year because the RemChoke arrived.
