Can anyone help me identify this Rolling Block?

Post by feazz »

Hello,
It was recommended that I post this here to help me determine which model Rolling Block this is.
I've tried to find out which model this is but there is no model marked on the side of the receiver like the Model 4's and 6's.
Things that I know for sure:

It's a Remington, markings on top of the barrel are "Remington Arms Co. Illion, N.Y." on the bottom is the caliber "22" and the serial # "67662"
Octagonal barrel
Obviously it's a rolling block, not of the "Take down" models
It has some sort of band around the back end of the receiver with a tang that extends on to the front of the stock on top that I haven't seen on the Model 4's or 6's
There are no other markings on the gun that are openly visible.
I've attached a few pictures of the rifle, sorry about the detail of them, I hope they help.

Thank you for your time and help,
Rick / Feazz

You have a Model 4. The band around the wrist appears to be some kind of repair, but hard to tell for sure.

Thanks rudybolla, it's been a thorn in my side trying to determine which it is since there's no marking/model#. I haven't taken anything apart so if it is a repair, it'll stay that way and I won't mess with it. I thought of restoring it but I think I'll just clean it up really good and hold on to it. Unfortuantely the barrel is almost smooth with very little rifling left so I won't be shooting it.
