I have inherited the above rifle recently, and was trying to find out for certain what ammo I should be shooting with it. The barrel is simply stamped with "6mm", which I have not been able to find matching rounds for locally. Any suggestions on what I could be looking for? Thanks!

Re: 1967 Model 700 6mm
Lots of things are hard to find these days.
It's a good cartridge with somewhat better ballistics than the .243 Win.
Without knowing where you're at or where you've looked, you probably won't find them at Wal-Mart or the other major discount stores. You'd have to look in some regular sporting goods stores or gun shops (and then there's no guarantee). I'm not sure how much (if anything) you'd save by purchasing them from an Internet source.
Be prepared to dig deep into your pocket......even though there are alot of those caliber rifles around, they're not as common as the .243 Win. which uses the same size bullets (but they're not interchangeable). Even if you were to load/reload the components, those costs have skyrocketed in the last few years, too.
I happen to have two rifles in that caliber. One is a late-70's vintage 600 Mohawk and a mid-50's vintage 722 in .244 Rem. (they re-named it to 6mm after the 700's came out in '62).
I've been loading/reloading all of my own ammo for over 40 yrs. It's the only way to go.

this is a good choice...
http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/commo ... ISO-8859-1
but with how much you pay for factory loads id suggest learning to reload. if not let me know ill take your 6mm brass of your hands.and they are right its like a .243 only difference is the brass the bullet is actually the same.
