721 info please

Post by vburrell »

I just purchased a 721 in 270. The only barrel code is the #5 the serial # is 224***. It has a monte carlo stock with nicer wood than most 721's i've seen. I believe it is original to the gun. I was looking for a practical antelope gun but could'nt resist this one. Now i'm wandering if i should use it or protect it. Any info would be appreciated.Thank you.

Your 721 is an excellant gun, especially in 270. I am told they are valued at 4 to 600. I had one like yours many years a go, and it shot very nice, and was very accurate.

Probably made between '51 and '52.

I seriously doubt that the wood is original......probably been re-stocked.

Shoot it. That's what they were made for.
