I have what I believe is a Remington pre-Model 10 repeating shotgun and would like to find date of mfg. and any other info.
It is a 12 ga. bottom eject pump with no mod. #. Approx. 29" barrel. Top of barrel has Remington Arms Co., Ilion, N.Y.U.S.A. Patents Feby.3,1903, May (16 or 18),1905. Left side of barrel has FULL and a circled J. Below that is DR and I think a 3 or a B (could have been double stamped). Right side of barrel has a circled RP. Under the barrel is the serial # and an A and 9 stamped above a hole. Serial number is 8055 with a U above on receiver, with matching 8055 on barrel. Stock has rounded knob below grip. Rear of trigger guard has a "V" cutout. There is only 1 screw below the chamber release button on the right side of the receiver.
It was my grandfathers and I learned to shoot with it. It's been used pretty hard and a recoil pad has been added. Original butt plate is gone.
Thanks for any help you can give me!! Dave B

Re: Need Info On Old Remington Repeating Shotgun
The John D. Pedersen designed pump gun was introduced in the 1908-09 Remington Arms Co. catalogue (it wasn't in the catalogue dated 1908), and the company name was changed to Remington Arms - Union Metallic Cartridge Co. in 1911, so that is as close as I can come, sometime between late 1908 and early 1911.
