I currently inherited a Rem. Wingmaster 870 with a 30" barrel built in 1968 that takes 2 3/4" & 3" shells. However, I want to buy another barrel for home defense ( 18" or 18 1/2" ) instead of buying another shotgun for just that purpose. I searched Buds and found a barrel for $110 shipped. Since this is my first shotgun I basically need confirmation on if this barrel will work?
Do I need to worry about what kind of choke I currently have? Would this be a good decision as far as product wise,,,,, good decision buying this instead of another shotgun? Some different perspectives would definitely help me out. The link is below:

Just need confirmation before I buy a new Rem. 870 barrel.
Re: Just need confirmation before I buy a new Rem. 870 barrel.
The new barrel will fit. Don't know if the finish will match or not, because the link doesn't work but my guess nis it will not - but that doesn't matter much. You cannot buy a better pump gun than a 1968 Wingmaster in good shape - period. Why worry about the choke you have if you are buying another barrel - the choke is in the barrel in case you don't know that. Worry about details down the road after you learn a little.
What could have happened... did.

Sorry, thats pretty amazing that they just so happen to sell out of them after I posted the link. Which is why the link doesn't work anymore. I guess I will have to wait to buy it again when they get it back in stock. But the barrel was a Remington 18" fixed cylinder choke with matte finish. The matte will not match but that will be the least of my concerns.
