Barrel Date Question

I bought a mid-70's 410 that does not have a barrel date code.
It is a Remington barrel, VR, full choke, that's about 26"s.
The owner bought it new, but said he never changed the barrel, that's the way it came.
Did any of these come without the barrel date code?
I know the person, and I don't think he would not lie to me.
Just curious.

I have three or four Remington barrels with no date code, and two of them came new on the guns. All are pre-1977.
