Reminton 597 17HMR

Post by ppkaprince98 »

Well, I just received my letter from Remington about the recall on my .17HMR and I was bummed!!!!!! That is probably my favorite gun and I will miss it. Anyway I guess its time to buy a new gun with the coupon I will be receiving  . So I would like some opinions on my next purchase. I was browsing their website and wanted some info on the Model 5 17HMR, does anyone have it, how does it shoot? My other option I was thinking about was the .204 cal that is a nice little load, but it costs a lot more and I didn't want to spend a ton on this next gun.

Let me know.

The last I knew Remington was giving a $200 certificate toward the purchase of a new Remington for the 597 HMR. I am a real Remington fan, but that isn't a fair shake. Have you considered keeping the 597 and being real careful with keeping the chamber clean???

They are giving me $250 because I have the laminate stock, but anyways I understand what you are saying and have thought about keeping it. I figure I would rather get rid of it while I can get something for it rather than having it blow up on me and having a pile of junk. I do keep the action clean, (semi-autos need to be very clean IMO), I just dont want something bad to happen to it, or me or someone else.

Good points. Sometimes it's better to take your loss and go on to something better. Been there, done that.

If Rem admits it's their fault it just seems like they should do better...
