Mod 1900 KED 12ga.

Post by Bullseye »

This forum has helped me identify a shotgun that has been in my family for a long time. It appears that I have a Mod 1900 KED since it has a number in the 300000's, is damascus steel and has the auto eject. Am I right? Are the KED models worth more than the others? The asking prices on some of the sites such as gunsamerica, auctionarms and gunbroker list these shotguns in the 300-600 range. I have not found a KED model though.

Any help would be appreciated.

I feel that auto ejector model 1900"s are quite Rare. I have several of them 1n 16 and 12ga. steel barrels and only one had Auto Ejejtors. In fact it was in fair condition and I completely rebuilt it to new condition. It is now a real beauty and I am asking $2150 for it. since you asked I think the AE ejector 1900 guns should bring more money. A very good condition extractor gun, damascus can go as low as $350 and up. Add AE and it should add 20%more and ad steel brls and away we go depending on condition. Regards Jay Huber

So steel barrels are worth more than the Damascus barrels? I'm new to this...

Model 1900

At the time they were being made the Damascus barrel guns cost about $5 more then the Remington Steel barrel guns. Seventy years or so of warnings about Damacsus barrels on the shell boxes of American ammunition manufacturers have made Damascus guns worth less.

I'll have to disaggree with Jay. I seem to find many more KE and KED grade Model 1900s then I do K or KD Grades. Remingtons were the guns if one wanted ejectors as they were only about $5 more from the April 1897 catalogue on. L.C. Smith ejectors were $15 to $25 extra depending on grade. Parker Bros. ejectors were $25 extra.

I have very high condition KE-grades in 12- and 16-gauge and I paid less then $2000 for both of them. Wouldn't sell them for that though!!
