I have a new Remington 700 BDL and a new Nikon ProStaff 3-9x40 scope. I have mounted the scope Leupold high rings, but with the iron sites, I am unable to either put on or take off the scope covers. I was wondering if there was anyone out there who owns the 700BDL how they mounted their scope.
thanks
Rich

You need to remove the sights. You will also need to get rid of the high mounts and at least go to a medium. You want the scope to lay as close to the barrel without touching it.

I've had to remove the rear-sight from the Remington 700s I hunt with. Most 40MM scopes will not mount near enough to the rear to see thru. As has been noted, mount the scope very near to the barrel, but still high enough to add the required lense-cover.
