I have a model 11 16g sportsman model, barrel date code from march 1946, with a very late serial number, does anyone know exactly how late these were produced? or, the last serial number?
thanks
model 11 16 gauge end of production
Re: model 11 16 gauge end of production
Remington's site lists last serial number as "approximately 1,557,000" , mine is 1557872... does anyone have a close number? what is your production date?
thanks

The square-back The Sportsman and the Model 11 were catalogued thru early 1948 and were then replaced by the streamlined The Sportsman-48 and the Model 11-48.
I have a 20-gauge The Sportsman with a 1948 barrel date code at home. I'll check it out in about a week.

The barrel date code on my 20-gauge "The Sportsman" is BTT or January 1948. Serial number is in the 1,093,7xx range.

thanks, apparently remington's list of "approximate" last serial numbers is very approximate; they list the last 20g as mapprox 1,075,xxx and your is way past that.... i was wondering the 16g tapered off near the end of production, I guess the serial number range is just a very rough range... thanks for the input
