Help with Remy Roller ID

Post by shinjin »

I bought a Remington Rolling Block in Houston that has no rear sight, a homemade fore end f(rom a Model 700), no caliber designation or other discernable markings and no remington rollstamp on tang. I found a 4 digit serial number on lower tang under buttstock.

I assumed it was a 43 Spanish but neither a Spanish or Egyptian will chamber. Have a 43 Mauser round enroute. Ultimately may have to do a chamber cast but barrel may not be a keeper or very accurate. (Discernable bulge about 6 inches shy of muzzle and rifling VERY shallow.)

Would love to have a barrel that uses readily available components (43 caliber doesn't show up on many Lousiana gunshop shelves!) but want to keep costs reasonable.

Ideas on what I might have or suggestions on barrels?

ALSO, are Navy Arms or Pedersol parts/stocks useable on these original Remingtons?

I can't help identify your rifle but I can tell you the the rifling on a 43 Egyptian is VERY shallow as it was inteded for patched bullets.
I have one in mint condition and the rifling is crisp and mirror shinny and very shallow.
Good luck.
