I bought a Remington BDL in this chambering recently. It isn't collector grade necessarily, but is all original and is in excellent mechanical condition. I've wanted one for a while, but am curious to know if these guns command any extra interest due to the chambering? I paid $375.00 for the rifle, and I'm guessing that it is part of the 1978-1984 or so production run. Is that a ballpark value for one of these?
p.s. The seller also threw in a 20 rd factory box of ammo, with the 200 gr Swift A-Frame PTD SP bullets, and 10 rounds of earlier Remington factory ammo for this rifle.

Re: 8mm Remington Magnum
I have a couple 8mm mags as well. They make take a little bit more attention then some other calibers, but as a prize collector piece I would not say its there. A lot of people will open there eyes to them because some never heard of the 8mm mag. I don't know the exact condition of your, but if yours is at least 80% you got a great deal. There's nothing in America that the 8mm mag won't stop.

My rifle is in about 90% condition. How would you describe the recoil with your rifles? I have a Caldwell Lead Sled to sight the rifle in with, but am thinking that a good recoil pad might be a necessity. The original is looking and feeling a little hard these days. I have a Redfield mount and rings on the rifle right now, and an extra Leupold 4x scope that I think I'll put on it. I also have a variable power Simmons scope, but I'm not sure that one would stand up to recoil. I'll have to take it out and try it one of these days.
Re: 8mm Remington Magnum
I sighted the rifle in last week at 100 yards. The way this rifle shoots, I think I need to bump it back to 300 or 400 yards. It's very accurate with my best group being about 1/2" at 100, and if it's flat shooting too, it's a winning combination. The only downside is the price of factory ammo. I need to get some reloading dies and bullets and I'll be set.
