Stock Bearing Plate

Post by kahrshooter »

Hi, new to the forum, but I've read a good bit, seems like a nice place !

I just got an 1100, and it was retocked with a Remington branded 1100 Synthetic Stock.

Breaking it down for initial pre-firing cleaning, I found there is no Stock Bearing Plate in this particular 40 year old gun.

Do I really need to replace this?

If I do, it looks as if I would need to alter, shorthen the insert of the stok that recesses into the receiver.

Any info or knowledge would be helpful.

Thanks, all !

To the best of my knowledge, they do not use a bearing plate with synthetic stocks. I am no expert on synthetic stocks, but I know when you replace the wood stock with a RamLine stock, it says not to use the plate with the new synthetic stock, and a new synthetic LT20 Youth stock has no bearing plate under it, either.
What could have happened... did.
