m1871 with 1874 tang date

i have a 1871 rifle with the last tang date of 1874.this is a 36"barrel version with no stock or receiver markings. was the metal of this rifle finished bright when made.

That barrel length sounds military. A little more information, please. Caliber? Company name (will indicate pr-post 1888)? Type of bayonet marking? Length of forestock?
