Re: Rimfire auto's that shoot Short & Long Rifle intermixed

I have had a 550-1 for eons. It shoots shorts, longs, long rifle interchangeably without problems. About a year ago,I picked up a second one, it shoots as well but it has a sear case that has been cross threaded. Seems to be a common problem as it looks like a big screw. It gets "unscrewed" when it ...

I thought the Model 25 came only in .25-20 and .32-20. https://www.remarms.com/sites/default/f ... 201923.pdf

Re: M1885 Remington Lee extractor

Going to attempt a weld repair. Dimensions would be very helpful. I found this picture of an unbroken extractor. Anyone have an unbroken extractor they can measure? What is the measurement from the lug to the claw?

Re: M1885 Remington Lee extractor

TIG weld repair is an option, provided you can find a real gunsmith, not just a parts changer.

M1885 Remington Lee extractor

The the "hook" on my rifle's extractor is broken. You can see in the pictures below the tip is broken and how there is nothing to engage the rim of the .45-70 cartridge. There is also a picture of what it is supposed to look like. Does anyone have an extra extractor? Has anyone had any luck with a ...

Re: Remington Lee 45/70 Model 1885 Navy Rifle

Here is mine. The bore is pristine. Navy number 2743, inspected by Lieutenant W.W. Kimball. Part of the second order of rifles ordered by the Navy in June of 1889.

No idea of where it's been or what it's done, but what an astounding bit of US military history. While the US Army was running around ...

You have a fine rifle. One lives by the back door here loaded with CCI CB shorts to quietly dispatch pests around the garden and chicken coop.

Re: Remington 550-1 sear case

Thanks for the information and the link to the owner's manual. The gun is working and shoots fine. However, with the action out of the stock it is pretty evident that the sear case is cross threaded. I annoys me greatly that it is so, but I am torn between leave well enough alone and making it right ...

Remington 550-1 sear case

I found a 550-1 at a yard sale and the sear case on it looks also to be cross threaded all to hell. I am afraid to disturb it. Has anyone had any luck repairing such damage? How did you do it or who did you send it to? I'd like to get it back into good shooting condition.

Then I shall take exceedingly good care of mine. It is a .32-20 in nice shape and shoots fine. If you won't work on one, you can bet I won't be.

Thanks, Emil

Re: Model 12 what ammunition are people using?

I have had really good results with CCI's quiet .22LR ammo. Works great on squirrels. A bit lower velocity that standard, but certainly works great in both my Remington rifles, a Model 12C and a Model 550-1.
