Well, I bought this first-year (1920-1921) Remington Model 17 shotgun a little while back. It's my own darn fault, but I'm just now realizing that the barrel appears to have been repaired, with a metal band inserted. It was advertised at 28", but when I measured it this evening (for the first time), it's only 26 3/4". However, the front bead sight appears to be original. I'm guessing someone repaired a section that was likely damaged, though the patina looks similar and blended in, which why I didn't notice it at first. When I peer into the barrel, I could see the first metal ring, but couldn't see the second metal ring, as it's deeper in. There's also a small (repaired) crack in the wood behind the rear rang that wasn't disclosed by the seller.
So, the GB auction ended at $202, and I have $337 all in, including shipping, taxes, and FFL fees. How bad did I do on this one? I suppose it's better to make a mistake on a cheaper gun than an expensive one, but it still sucks, nonetheless. Thank you in advance.

Here's also a picture of the barrel. You can see the metal band on the barrel, closer to the muzzle.
