My ring trigger 32
Re: My ring trigger 32
Hi Rand,
The forum admin has changed, and the new one can't answer your questions. The old one was a ring trigger collector.
There are three ring triggers.
1) the first is the Zig-zag, only 1,000 made 1866-67. It has rotating barrels, and was complicated to make, and easily broken so discontinued and replaced by:
2) the Elliot 22 pistol. This is a 5-shot with rotating firing pin. About 15,000 made 1867-1886.
3) the Elliot 32 pistol. This is a 4-shot, also rotating firing pin. About 25,000 made about 1868-1886.
Both guns were probably stopped in 1886 when Remington went into receivership because of their bankruptcy.
Each of the three models was serial numbered independently.
About serial 17,500 the frame on the 32 was made with lower sides. We have no idea why this was done.
That's about the best that I can do off hand, but if you have specific questions, I can try to find an answer.
Unfortunately, there is no book, or even a monograph on the Ring Triggers
The forum policy is no estimates on value. You can get a good idea of general value from guns international.com, or an internet search.
