remington model 11

Post by oldschool »

I'm trying to find out exact year of manufacture and approx. value on my Remington 12 ga. Model 11. The serail # is 287655. Markings on the barrell include Full XR on one side and R.E.P. on the other along with a symbol that looks like an anchor nearby the R.E.P. On top of the barrell is The Remington Arms Union Metallic CTG. Co. Inc. Remington Ilion WKS Ilion NY USA Browning Patents October 9, 1900 December 17, 1901 September 30th 1902 AND June 16th 1903.

Any help is appreciated.

I have a Model 11 too. The saftey is inside the tirgger guard and is pushed forward with the trigger finger to fire. What can you tell me about this configuration of the Model 11. I heard the model 11 had 3 versions of the placement of the safety, Is that true?

My Model 11 has serial number 321185 and was made in 1927. IT has the safety lever inside the trigger guard. THis feature was only produced in 1927 and 1928.

Here is some more up-to-date information. The safety inside the trigger guard was replaced in 1928 by a cross bolt safety incorporated into the trigger guard behind the trigger. The saftey inside the trigger guard was featured from 1905 until 1928. The Remington Model 11 with serial number 287655 was manufactured in 1924. Guns manufactured that year have serial numbers 280656 to 296327. A total of 15672 Model 11's were manufactured that year. Look on the barrel and you should find a two letter code. The month code is first and the codes from Jan to Sept. were: B,L,A,C,K,P,O,W,D. I don't have the codes for Oct., Nov. or Dec. but I assume Oct and Nov were E and R making "black powder" with the Dec. code a mystery to me. Since your serial number was around the middle for 1924 I suspect that it is maybe a K instead of an X making the month of manufacture May. The second letter of the code is the year code and should be R for 1924. FYI starting in 1920 the year codes were L,M,N,P,R,S,T,V,W,X,Y,Z,A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,J,K,L,MM ending in 1943 the last year I have the codes for.
