Remington 14 1/2~44-40 DC marked...value?

Post by BrotherRockeye »

I am trying to put a dollar value on a 14 1/2 in 44WCF that I have had for years.
It is one of the Dominion of Canada marked rifles.
serial number is C464xx
The bore is shiny with sharp rifling
It functions well mechanically and is an accurate shooter
Finish is mostly turning a brown patina with some remaining blue.
The wood is solid with the exception of a small crack(under 1") at the rear of the receiver that hasn't moved in decades, and what looks to be a flaw in the grain on the left side.
It has the steel buttplate and all the filler screws etc are in place.
It is all original and has not been messed with in any way, having been used by a friends Grandfather as a deer rifle for decades before I bought it some 20+ yrs ago.
can anyone offer a ballpark figure as to value?
Obliged.

Your best option is to search gunbroker or auction arms and see what compariable guns are selling for. You can't always go by what some people are asking, but what they ate actually selling for. I would guess in your condition $650-700.00.

Billy!
I totally agree with Rem600 on the value, guys are asking all sorts of money for them but they end up selling for about what he indicated. While it appears as though your gun "is all there" which is a good thing, it is certainly "not too pretty" but then the "DC" marked guns are well travelled.

I have three inlcuding a carbine, two of which I got out of Australia before they cracked down on exports and neither of those were very pretty but ten years ago cost me less than $200 each. Right now I am sitting on a DCP frame and barrel that is lacking an action bar from being complete but these are fun guns to shoot and are quite accurate with the right sights up to about 75 yards. So shoot and enjoy the bloody thing.

If you wish to pass on the serial I will give it to Tom Hemphll for his data base.

Best regards!

looks aren't everything.

This ol' gal hits cans all day to 100yds as long as the wind is light

The serial was entered previously via this site.

The ones listed on GB are owned by dreamers imo.

thanks for the replies.
