Re: R51
I returned my R51 last October in the recall. They were supposed to send me one of the new series in a few months. I called in late January to find out what was going on. They said production was being shifted to Arkansas and it would be April-June for production guns to be available. The offered a ...

You are right again! I just wasn't measuring carefully enough. There is a slight difference.

Are you sure about that Researcher? I just compared a 16 to a 20 and the receivers are the same width and height.

Re: 1148 frame sizes
I just dug through the gun safe and pulled out a 12 and a 16. The 16 receiver is shorter and narrower than the 12. That is not to say that there were not changes along the way.

Re: Remington sportsman
My guess it was made in 1939. What do you want to know about it? There should be a date code on the barrel.

Your gun was made in late 1920. It is chambered for 2& 3/4 in shells.

Re: Trying to date my Rem model 11 and ID markings.
The serial number would indicate 1945 also. Look at that "U" very carefully. Or maybe someone at the factory just made a mistake.

Re: need advice on dating a remington 20 gauge
I believe what you have is the three shot version of the model 11. That is a strange serial number, but I also have one with a similar number. I believe your gun was made in 1935 or 1936. There is a date code on the barrel. It is on the left side near the receiver. The first letter is the month, the ...

Mohawk 48 date code
The barrel date code on the Mohawk 48 I got today is ACT. I am pretty sure the CT is for April 1970 since these were made in 1970- to 1974. But what could the A be for? I am familiar with numbers representing service, replacement part etc. but not letters.
