Re: Inherited Remington 700

Sincere condolences. June 1969 no doubt about it-everything lines up. As built rifle. Full 24" stainless steel barrel. Enjoy it!

Re: Model 600 .308 DOM and replacement parts help

First year, March 1964 for a build date. The internal mag box is installed incorrectly causing the major warp in the trigger guard. It has had the trigger recall-the V on the trigger tells us that. You can still find trigger guards that aren't too warped. The rib is a bit tougher. You mite want to ...

Re: Model 700 Date / Info

Would tend to believe the March, 1966 build date. While the receiver serial number should really be far closer to 190xxx, it is not uncommon to have a receiver a few months older than the build date as serial numbers are added when the receiver is built, not when the rifle is built.

Re: How new is this 700?

It is the barrel markings you are looking for to date most. The "RR" or any letter(s) before the serial number is only a clue. XH would be Dec., 2013. Mid 1999 to late 2001 the date code on the barrel was suspended.

Re: Remington 600 in 35 Remington

Just a few more than 3500 M600s were produced in 35Rem. It is the second most rarest calibre, unfortunately dropped from the later M660 lineup and and almost completely from Remington's calibre list but for some custom Model Sevens years later.

Re: Model 25 barrel code

Just as the A stamping is incomplete, the P is incomplete as well. It is for sure a P with the bottom arm swooping up.

Re: Please Help Date Model 700 BDL

Barrel date code should be "(E or R) and W". 98 would be the assembler. U could be the final inspector. There would be, in this year, 4 symbols/markings and yours mite read U EW 98 or U RW 98, with I believe, your month/year EW or RW being 2 separate letter stampings of the same font as opposed to 2 ...

UE makes no sense. Serial number dates it October or November of 1972

1962 to 1968 in ADL form. Beyond that your info is of little help. What info is on the barrel?

Re: Help dating Rem Model 700 ADL

Everything you need is on the left hand side, U E P 30 / 314143.

U is the symbol of the final inspector
E stands for October
P stands for 1967
30 is the symbol for the assembler
314143 serial number confirms the year 1967 when compared to others in the same range

Stock checkering confirms ADL ...

Re: Did 1977 rifles not get barrel date codes?

The woox reference guide I believe is AI produced junk. Run away from it and never look at it again. Its totally wrong on most aspects. The rifle you refer to is unique for one reason or another. Custom shop guns are NOT date coded. Employees could inspire how the end product looked. I wouldn't ...

Re: REM Model 600

These triggers come under great scrutiny. Safe handling always trumps everything. Of the many I have and know of, I've never seen the proof to make me concerned. The one and only thing to remember is to keep these triggers clean clean clean. Did I say to keep them clean. And dry! NO oil. Dry lube ...

Re: Did 1977 rifles not get barrel date codes?

Unsure where you got 1977 from. The serial number places it in the very early 1990s, likely 1990. This may be a rifle made for a Remington employee. First one I've seen marked so. This is either the assembler or inspector.

Re: Dating a Nylon 66

I think maybe P as well. so...P B M

P could be June, but B is 1955 and there was no rifle model to assemble in Canada at that point. And the practice ended long before 1981. So that is out.

B could be January and M could be 1965. This is the only feasible solution. In this case, the P (and hell ...
