Re: Remington m25 in .25-20 brass life

I shoot several model 25s in 25-20 and haven't found them to be rough on brass. All the stuff I shoot are 60 grain high speed factory loads, or Hornady 60 grain flat points hand loaded to factory specs. Compared to model 14s they are not a problem.

Re: Remington Model 30R Express

I have a database on model 30s and record three carbines that belonged to the Pennsylvania State Police. The ones on my record were June and July, 1927 production. If your serial was close, I think we could assume yours might be one of these police guns.

Re: Another Model 14 Serial Number

I keep a database on model 14s with information on 3700 guns. it shows most in the 104,000 range as built in 1927 and some in 1928. Remington did not build in serial number order and seems to have used a method of grabbing receivers at random and assembling a rifle. I had a 1914 serial number that ...

Re: Remington Model 12 site...

Go with the EX. I record info on 14s, 141s, 30s, and 25s, and Remington did not build in serial order. I have seen a 1914 serial to be built eleven years later. its like they grabbed a serial receiver out of a Cracker Barrel at random and built the rifle....tom

Re: Model 14-1/2 44 REM 44 W.C.F

A 44 Rem is just another name for a 44-40. It was also called a 44 WCF(Winchester Center Fire), 44 Win, and the Spanish called it a 44 Largo as I recall.

Re: Model 25 date code

The closest I can come on my datase is 21279, which is a 11/28 production. Most in this serial range are made in 1928, however, Remington did not always make them in order of serials, for instance, 21124 is made in 1929.

Wonderful pictures. Your rifle was made in May, 1923. Enjoy it. They are a delight to shoot.

Re: Inherited my grandfathers Model 25 32 WCF

On the left side of the barrel, in the area below 32-20 and towards the receiver, you will find two letters, generally followed by a symbol. Give me those two letters and I can tell you the month and year the rifle was made. For now, it was likely made in 1923 or early 1924............tom

Re: Remington Model 14a serial #C74236

I have a few questions on your rifle that was most likely made in 1920. Could I get you to send a picture to my email address? I started this typing questions but after 6 of them, I think a picture or two might save time. I maintain a database on model 14s and should be able to provide with more ...

On my 141R, it is 2" when measuring from a straight edge laid on top of the receiver down to the heel of the buttplate. Doing the same on two 14Rs, it is 2 1/2". .....tom

I am assuming that you mean that you have a model 12A as a 22A is a nonexistent model. If so, your slide action rifle was made in 1922.

Re: Year of Manufacture Rem model 25

You are correct in the build code indicating March, 1930 on a serial range that would normally is 1923 production. Is there any number behind the AY? I list another close the that serial that carries a code indicating 6/30, but also has a 2 behind it, indicating a barrel alone that was sold on that ...
