Thanks Mainspring. I don't have the box, so no additional info there. Regardless, it does seem an upgrade from the usual hardwood or laminate stock and somewhat unusual.

My first rifle was a Remington, 760 Gamemaster 30-06 from the 50s I think, got it in '84. After I got a BLR I let my son use the 760 I found some serious pitting on the receiver and so traded it. I did get a new 7600 270 a few years ago but for some reason I didn't hang onto it.
